Proposed New Cato Ridge Interchange Takes Another Step Forward
The SANRAL public participation process of last week moved the proposed new Cato Ridge Interchange a further step forward. The latest design involved some innovative thinking to link the existing and new interchange so as to ensure compliance with legislation regarding the distance between ramps and to prevent the closure of some of the existing ramps. This can be seen on the attached diagram.
The new interchange is critical to the development of the Cato Ridge Intermodal Hub (Dry Port) and to the related Truck Stop. After lengthy delays, plans for these are moving forward again and starting to gain traction.
Now is the right time to invest in the area as land prices and rentals currently offer great value for money but are likely to escalate substantially once construction of the Intermodal Hub commences.
